OUR STORY

As a father of a student athlete, I had waited for this moment for over 10 years. I was finally taking my son to start his collegiate career in sports. I was so excited to be taking the 12 hour drive to his campus that it literally brought tears to my eyes. Yes, I cried ...lol. I was so happy for my son because he had worked extremely hard all these years and had truly earned his football scholarship.

However, the long drive allowed me to reflect on the struggles of our journey. When I shared my feelings with my business partner, he told me about his personal journey as a collegiate basketball player and that of his daughter who was at that time a collegiate track star. The road and journey of an athlete is filled with many blind-spots and sacrifices that effects the entire family. I know what you are probably thinking…. We should be happy that our children were lucky enough to be in that top 1% of high school athletes to receive a college scholarship.

After hours of conversation, it hit us like a ton of bricks. SmartJock!! There are millions and millions of families just like ours dedicating so much time, energy, and money into being great on the field, that they will not realize the amazing opportunities to be great off the field until it’s too late.
